The name of the city refers to a tribe that has once occupied the area, of the wadi Aggai and of the river of wad el Yhoudi, at the beginning of the Islamic era.

Sefrou is a true garden known for the abundance of cherry farms. Indeed, this town is distinguished by the festival of the cherries (or Moussem of Heb Lemlouk), which takes place at the beginning of June of every year, and since 1920. During three days, Sefrou becomes a place of dance, songs and parades and especially for the selection of “Miss of the Cherries”, the most beautiful girls among candidates.
